Puerto Venecia Zaragoza is a clear example of how an integrated leisure strategy can modify the global perception of a Shopping Centre.

In Puerto Venecia the strength of the integrated concept of Shopping and Leisure definitively modified the models on which the sector was based, leaving a landmark in the history of Shopping Centres.

Inspiration

From the beginning, the owners of Puerto Venecia wanted to base a new concept of leisure on the strategical axis on which to structure the global design of space. Based on a clear idea in which leisure contributed to add value to the whole shopping Centre, we were able to create a new commercial category. So original was the strategical value that it became a fundamental reason for winning the MAPIC AWARDS 2013_PUERTO VENECIA BEST SHOPPING AND LEISURE CENTRE IN THE WORLD.

The final result is an obvious success in which leisure and shopping work as a balanced ecosystem favouring the image and motivating repetition. In this sense, and due to its special characteristics, Puerto Venecia has become a tourist attraction within the region, capable of attracting millions of visitors and continues to be an international reference.

In a project with such original characteristics it was very important to understand leisure as a basic pillar of the global strategy, so, a big effort was made in this sense. Besides, important work had to be done in the design of the integral concept, as it was crucial to succeed in each and every of the constructive elements employed: landscaping, illumination, architecture
